As a child I received
early and frequent encouragement from teachers for my artistic
efforts (never underestimate the power of praise!) Being in a
two-room schoolhouse with eight grades, and as copiers “had not
been invented yet”, student art was a most welcome teaching aid.
One very special birthday, my Pop and Gran sent me a watercolour
box from England. Hooked for life!
In university I
pursued a rather unusual mix of Art History, Math, and
Psychology - ending up teaching French – a very logical (?)
path. Child-rearing years found me creating for craft shows -
painting silk, modeling jewelry, and producing calligraphy.
Now, having
enjoyed many years teaching enthusiastic young people, I have
"retired to my next career". Our empty nest in Caledon provides
the perfect spot for observing life in the slower lane. I find
inspiration at every turn, whether at home or abroad,
translating my personal world into images using ink, dyes,
watercolour and fabric.
I am currently a
member of Beaux-Arts Brampton, North Brampton
Watercolour Group and Visual Arts Brampton. Wherever YOU
are, please get out there and support or enjoy your arts of
choice. Sing, dance, whatever - make your own music in your own
way!
